This week my friend Tina came to learn to observe and draw too. We got a lovely cappucino from the cafe before going in.

Lots of new faces there this week and quite a good number - great to see such interest in this class.

Our model was Gwyon - I am not sure if I have spelled his name correctly and I was glad I was feeling more relaxed this week as it allowed me to remember to breathe whilst sketching! Yes - that was why I was pink last week probably - too tense and apprehensive.

I took more time as our model posed for us. That said my warm-up sketches were terrible and I only have one sketch which makes me smile from the 2 hour session (photo above).

Well - that’s what learning a new skill entails doesn’t it?

Summer’s Final Flame

How about a ravishing red poppy to send off the fabulous British summer we have had?

I used Arches hot pressed 90lbs paper (unstretched) and Cadmium Scarlet, Cadmium Yellow, Sap Green, and Winsor Blue to paint this simple poppy.
